Flying Dog provides superior service at a moment's notice! I had flashing lights and then an engine light warning that stayed on. After a diagnostic review, it was determined that the problem was a sensor and that the car was safe to drive! Whew!

Excellent shop! A very knowledgeable and competent staff. They solved my mini Cooper not running due to a bad timing chain. The entire staff is helpful, courteous, willing to answer my many questions. I have had my mini Cooper to at least six other shops to include a dealership and this is the first time I have gotten accurate information and actually solving my problem. Their mechanic Justin was outstanding. He took the time to answer my questions and even showed me parts on my engine that I was interested in. I can’t say enough good things about the Flying Dog garage. They will have my repeat business and I will certainly recommend them to the rest of my family. The staff at Flying Dog really took care of my needs for my 2013 Mini Cooper Countryman All4. They were courteous and professional! I had many questions that were answered thoroughly and efficiently. Justin, the mechanic, took the time to explain everything to me in layman’s terms and was very transparent about all of it. I even made a visit and he showed me the work being done and the parts that needed replaced. Everything was organized, detailed and professional. Elizabeth was prompt on calling back and patient when I had more questions. Awesome experience! My Mini is running better than it ever has. A++

The staff and techs here are these best I've experienced in my 30 years in the Kalamazoo area . Elizabeth listened to my lengthy history of my 15 year old BMW 135i , as did Justin , whom has a great knowledge of all things BMW related to my car. Flying Dog Garage is rated highly among my fellow BMWCCA members. Their reviews, related to me via the chapter website, were the reason I looked at Flying Dog Garage. Have taken my Subaru there many times, and Elizabeth and Stacy in the office are always quick to respond, are thorough in explaining things to me (I'm self-admittedly not savvy when it come to cars), and are super kind and easy to deal with. Prices are on par with other places in Kalamazoo. Highly recommend these guys, especially for other women who are worried about getting ripped off.

Took my daughter's car here and am so glad we did. They were great at explaining the problem-even showing pictures of it with notes of what they found and tests they did. Repairs were done pretty quickly, and done right as the car runs better than ever. So happy to have found an honest shop (especially one that doesn't talk down to women like we don't understand cars at all). Highly recommend!

Supper nice folks, unfortunately, my mini is in bad shape I paid less for the inspection than I thought. However, I thought that the inspection would have been a deeper dive still fair, though. You own a euro you know or should know things are about to get expensive.

The service received here was such a blessing! My key was stuck in my ignition because something was broken within the shifter. I told them my situation and how I wasn’t able to lock my car because I only have that key that was stuck in the ignition. They got me in the next morning and had my car finished 2 days later. Would highly recommend!

I’ve been coming to Flying Dog for a little over a year now and I can’t say enough good things about their entire staff. I have an older, high-mileage Volvo that can be a pain to work on but they always treat it with the same care and attention as the new luxury cars they service. This week they allowed me to use one of their loaner cars so I could get to work while my repairs were being done and their technician even fixed my loose steering wheel!

I took my Honda here for a ""second opinion"". I was told by the dealership that I needed a new part that would cost $5400. Flying Dog suggested I try replacing the transmission fluid first, which was due to be done anyway, and it worked. A much less expensive job! Six weeks later and everything is still working fine. I appreciate their stepwise approach to problem solving and trying the less expensive options first.

These people are great. Everyone is nice and friendly. It took a while to get in to be looked at, as the case with any shop right now. However, as soon as they were able to take a look and let me know the issues with my vehicle, parts were ordered and work was done so quickly after that. Love their after hours key drop system. Pay online then pick up your key from a secure locked box after they closed so you don't have to leave work early, so convenient. My favorite shop in Kalamazoo and surrounding areas. Thank you, Flying Dog!

2007 VW GTI I noticed that the engine wasn't running well, even though there weren't any check engine lights on. I took it too a DIFFERENT shop and they said there was a lot of metal in the oil and the engine was going to fail soon. They didn't want to find the cause or offer any solutions. I took it HERE for a second opinion and they actually put in an effort to find out the problem. They seemed to know what to look for because apparently the camshaft follower on the high pressure fuel pump wore and failed. GTI drivers should know better to check this piece but I didn't at the time! Oops. This is why I picked this shop because of their work with euro cars. It was a hefty price to fix the damage that was caused inside the engine, but I didn't want to buy another car (market is terrible at the moment) Once it was all said and done, the car is running GREAT, I don't think my engine has ran this smoothly in a LONG time! Very grateful. They do have a cool online system for their work orders, you can see pictures they share and information. I do wish there was an itemized list with details including labor, but I didn't get one. I didn't ask either, so they may be able to offer that, I don't know, I just didn't get one.

I just purchased a pre-owned Subaru Forester and two weeks later, the check engine light and other warning lights started flashing as well! I just bought a used Subaru Forester about 2 weeks ago, and while driving on I-69, the cruise control shut down and the light started to flash, the traction control light came on and the check engine light came on as well! I was advised by a friend to check out this place called Flying Dog Garage. They got me in within a couple of days and while I waited, they did without a doubt, the most through inspection of the entire car including pictures and shared with me exactly what was needed right away along with some items that will need attention in the future as well! Bravo to you! Indeed, they discovered that the catalytic converter simply wore out and was in need of replacement. I always tell companies that I am considering using, ""do a good job for me and I'll tell everyone I know about you! But if you screw with me, remember, I'll tell everyone I know about you as well!"" These folks are truly ""Top Drawer"" in my book! Professional and super courteous as well. I can't recommend them highly enough for your foreign car!

Took my 2014 BMW 328i xDrive to the dealership when check engine light went on and power was reduced. Dealership quote $8K to repair Turbo Charger and replace oil gasket. Received a recommendation from Mac's Garage in Richland to take it to Flying Dog. Testing Analysis came back with oil gasket and and Turbo Wastegate Actuator to be replaced. Total Charge = $1,600 Drives like a dream again. Engine noise gone. Will always start at Flying Dog for repairs and maintenance on my BMW. Everyone is kind and very informative. I’ve been using Flying Dog since I started driving a German import. So far, just basic scheduled maintenance items, but very easy to book an appointment and work is always done as discussed and on time. I’ve just added a BMW to the family fleet, and will certainly be having my maintenance and repair needs done with FDG as well.

The minute my car was done with warranty I started bringing it to Flying Dog. They take great care of the car and do very high quality work. If you've got a German car, this is the place. It's not the cheapest, but then again, you drive a German car. You don't want cheap. You want good.

Really pleased with the overall service. Thank you, truly a unique automotive experience. Pricing was very fair and great value considering the level of service. Excellent communications with an easy and convenient online interface. Front office staff is great, knowledgeable and skilled. After decades of neglect by the dealerships, only doing the minimum required repairs, Flying Dog has found and fixed the mechanical wear and tear of a 20 year old car that is now noticeably running better than it has in many years. I have confidence that I’ll be able to have it for as long as I want, already 200+k miles, hopefully many more to go. Already planning to bring them my other car to look at for what I’m sure has long overdue maintenance needs, despite religiously servicing at the dealership for a decade, thinking they were doing everything it needed. Thanks again, my only regret is that I didn’t know about your business sooner.

Well, I got a 73 charger that just had a oil pressure issue fixed and now the oil pressure is more consistent then before! *would very between 2-5 PSI and now holds steady* Previous work was done on my wrx and it was Awesome. Would recommend.

If you want your car fixed the right way, take it to Flying Dog! They take the time to figure out the root cause of your issue and then use their expertise to do the repair the right way. Consummate professionals. This was the only garage in town willing to perform engine block thread repair while the engine was still in the vehicle. That kept the repair cost affordable, and kept me from having to junk the car. They were clear upfront with expectations, communicated status updates by email, and they used an online repair management system that was easy to use, clear, and filled with repair notes and pictures. They were also quite flexible with supply chain issues because there were some difficulties getting the parts for my repair. I can't say enough good things about this shop. They really helped get me out of a sticky situation, and were a pleasure to work with to boot.

This is hands down the BEST automotive maintenance and repair shop I've ever dealt with. They are professional, timely and communicate very well about all aspects of services needed by your vehicle and what was done. They give quotes on cost and timing up front and are accurate 90% of the time. When their estimate was off due to less parts needed than they anticipated, the charges were likewise reflected in the bill. Their knowledge, experience and integrity are over and above the norm. It is tough, owning a foreign car. They are unique and well built but hard to find a competent facility to work on it. I have been to several places to have my car worked on including the Mercedes dealer. Not happy. A year and a half ago it was suggested that i should check out Flying Dog Garage. I was a little wary at first but was totally pleased with the results and the followup even after the bill had been already paid. i highly recommend Flying Dog Garage and will continue to have my Mercedes serviced there.

Great first time experience! My car had an issue that was occurring randomly. Three other garages, including the dealership told me if the problem wasn't occurring at the time I brought my car in, they couldn't diagnose it. Flying Dog told me if I wanted to bring it in they would do their best to find the problem. They found the problem and repaired it the following day, because they had to order the part. I'm very pleased with my decision to give them a try.

The Flying Dog Garage did a great job replacing the clutch assembly and gear box shaft seal on my 1992 Saab 900 Turbo. Alex is a conscientious and thorough service manager who kept me informed of the progress of the repairs. The '92 900 is an extremely rare car in this area. But, that did not present a problem for the excellent technicians at the Dog. When I got the 900 back it shifted like a factory new Saab. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Flying Dog to any import car owner of any brand or year. Their technical expertise is only exceeded by the outstanding customer service I experienced as a first time customer.

I have a problem with a lot of dealerships and mechanics that they quickly figure out that I know nothing about cars, and therefore the recommendations of what needs to be fixed and replaced just roll on in. With Flying Dog it was the exact opposite. Alex, the gentleman that worked on my car and Brooke the very kind receptionist took time to explain the problems my car was having and kept me updated every step of the way. They also managed to be cheaper than everyone else I had spoken to about the repairs my Volvo (S60 2.5T) needed, and they provided superior service. At no point did I fear that something was going to go wrong or that they were going to replace everything and send me a huge bill for it. I consistently received phone calls about what needed to be done and how soon my car would be ready. Being busy during the entire time my car was in the shop they also have a neat little website where you can approve parts/labor and whatever needs to be done. It was truly amazing. This is by far the best place I have worked with to keep my Volvo running in tip top shape.

I have worked with these folks for years. Though I didn't with my last vehicle, it was a lease, I would always and do recommend them to friends, colleagues and family. My first encounter with them was in a recovery setting. I had another shop, not to be named, work on my 2001 Passat wagon 1.8t. They were supposed to do the 100k mile tune up. Upon receiving my vehicle I knew immediately something was wrong. When I talked to ownership they pretty much shrugged me off. Steamed, I started to look for another shop. This is what lead me to Flying Dog. They were understanding knowledgeable and willing to work with me knowing I had just dumped a bit of coin into my car leaving it at a sub par status. Once they were done ""recovering"" my vehicle back to a normal functioning status they sat with me and talked me through what went wrong and what they did to fix it. Full transparency. Not enough auto shops realize the amount of positivity they would receive if they just had a little more transparency. These folks do!

Honest, fast, and accommodating. This is where you take it when you want it done right. Do they charge a little higher than the average place? Yes, but it's worth it because they're up front with you, even down to sending photos of the issues (every shop should do this!). One of the few places I've gone that didn't jerk me around.

I drive a 1979 Mercedes 450SL and have used Flying Dog before. I had several gasket leaks, shocker on a 40 yo car. Took Louise to Flying Dog and they did a great job of diagnosing the issues and repairing them. I could tell Tanner takes great pride at what he does and I enjoyed my discussion with him when I stopped by to check on the progress. He took the time to walk me through all that he had done and what was left to do. Brook, the admin coordinator, kept me informed via emails and was wonderful to work with. This is a great establishment and am sure I will be back, the car is not getting any younger.

If you want to stray away from the dealership then you found the right shop for your import. I like their online service link that they email because you get a detail overview of each repair with cost associate to it, notes and status updates. If your busy this system is great to reduce the time of calling the dealership, being put on hold and getting second hand information. The staff is friendly, provide honest feedback, and provides a quality service here in Kalamazoo.

Flying Dogs did an excellent job in installing an engine in my 2010 Mini Cooper. It did take longer than I expected but we talking about an engine replacement not putting on new brakes. I have used them again to analyze a blower motor problem and it was fixed within a day. Brooke does an excellent job at communicating the status of the repair being done. The folks at Flying Dog are the real deal. Honest and reasonable. I brought my 2011 Volvo XC60 in because of a mysterious noise, and they suggested a low-cost solution that works! They also found broken springs that two other mechanics had never been able to find. I appreciate that they talked with both me and my husband - it's my car, but often mechanics won't let me in on the conversation. There was no price gouging, just a real desire to actually fix my car with courtesy.

Our go-to garage in Kzoo, hands down. Amazing service - fast, friendly, reliable, done right the first time and for a reasonable rate. I've even been advised when it's better for me (for cost) to take my car elsewhere for something specialized! These folks are the best. Also, as the name would suggest: dog-friendly for customers! I brought my car here after having a not so great experience with another mechanic. The difference between the two was incredible. When people talk about great customer service they must have this place in mind. Dan was extremely polite and helpful from the moment I contacted him. While my car was at his shop he provided me with almost daily e-mails to update me on the progress of my car, helped me prioritize which maintenance issues I should address first and was never pushy in any way. And when it was time for me to come pick up my car he even came out and put my new license plate on for me! Since I drive an older BMW I feel it's somewhat difficult to find a place that I can take my car and feel confident that the mechanic will know what he's doing. When I learned that Justin, who did the work on my car, was a BMW enthusiast as well it definitely alleviated some of my worry and when I went back into the garage and saw the quality of work he was doing I knew I had found a great shop. I've already recommended this shop to a couple of my friends and I'm sure i will recommend it to many more people from now on. A great overall experience.

How refreshing to be treated as a 'customer' by an auto repair facility vs being treated as though the repair facility is doing me a favor by fixing my car. I was impressed from my first contact with Dan. I drive a 2002 BMW 325XI that just broke the 100,000 mile mark. It needs some work. Dan helped me prioritize so I could stay within my budget and still get done what had to be done to avoid more serious issues. I will be going back (hopefully not too soon, though). Nice job! Flying Dog Garage is a gem in our community| need repair for your import, then look no further. A 3 year, or 36,000 mile warranty on most repairs is a testament to their customer service. The Flying Dog Garage will quickly become your garage of choice, they go above and beyond any other service-related business. Not once did I feel like I was being taken advantage of, and I was happy to pay my bill (water pump, timing belt-pulley, fixed my window, oil change, vacuum lines, thermostat). I had considered trading my car in-now I feel as through I have a new car. I know I can easily drive this car for another 40 thousand miles-and know that I will not be stranded. Best damn mechanics in Kalamazoo, no question. We drive all the way from Battle Creek just to get our oil changed. When we get home, given the mileage, we're almost due for another! But Greg and the crew make the trek worthwhile. They're honest, attentive and try to make the costly inconvenience of auto repair as painless and pleasant as possible. I take my 2003 Pontiac VIbe to Flying Dog since I have a Toyota motor and frankly my husband won't let me take it anywhere else. My latest service was excellent! The problem was ""it's not running like it should"". The guys did their usual top notch diagnostics and after a couple services my Vibe was back to it's normal get up and go! It's so wonderful to be able to truly trust your garage to do the right thing and not overcharge you or add on services you don't need. These guys ARE THE BEST!! I've misplaced the mechanics names but I've heard only good things about these two and know one went to ""BMW"" school and is certified etc, and the other he said is brilliant with teck issues etc. Thanks for fixing what the Dealer could not and saving me 1000's in new tires that would not have fixed the issue any way. I am happy to write a 5 star review for Flying Dog Garage! In January of 2016, I purchased a previously owned vehicle that is out of warranty. Being one that babies my cars and wants to prevent any issues before they surface, I sought out Greg. I was very direct and told Greg that I was looking for someone to ""take care of my car"" as I plan to keep this one for many years and miles to come. I had an oil service done. I also had a squeak that was driving me crazy, and it turned out that it was a spot of loose molding on my windshield. Greg put on a glue that secured the molding and NO MORE SQUEAK!! For my next oil service, I will be having some major work done that I asked to be completed so I could follow the MB service schedule. I am putting all my confidence in Greg and look forward to Flying Dog Garage to become my place to go.

After buying a car from diamond auto in Portage the engine blew within a month. The crew at FDG were awesome. I had to take my car in that was WAY overdue to have the timing belt and associated parts changed out. Being a single dad with 2 daughters, it was hard to fit into my schedule, or at least I thought it would be. They made it so much easier by providing a loaner car for me to use while they worked on mine. The prices to do the work were much lower than most other places, and the work was twice as good. It's hard to believe in the world we live in that you can still find a place that is honest, reasonable, and really wants to work with you. They love what they do and it shows. I don't trust my 08' R32 to just anyone. I have taken it to Maple Hill religiously for whatever it needed. Until recently when it came time to have the timing chains and guides changed, I decided to give the Flying Dog Garage a chance. They came in WAY under what Maple Hill had quoted me for the job. They did a great job, provided me with a loaner and everything was done right, the first time! Since then I've had to have a couple other issues dealt with. Each time the issues were handled professionally, with OEM parts, in a timely manner and also at a cost that Maple Hill simply couldn't come close to. As long as this is the service I continue to get, I'll never need to take my car anywhere else.

They are thorough, take their time to diagnose the problem and fix it right the first time. They've serviced my '05 BMW X5 for three years now with a few quirky repairs in addition to the normal maintenance. Quality work and nice guys too.

Always a fair honest quote. No overselling or sugar coating- just honest. Done when they say it will be, fair price and quality work. Wouldn't take our Saab or Passat anywhere else. Greatly appreciated.

Sean & Josh took in our Mini Cooper after another garage (Redford, Michigan) did the worst hack job and did not know what they were doing! These guys did so much trouble shooting to find all the mishaps/mistakes, done previously, to get our car running and road worthy again. We were given frequent updates, the best service and affordable pricing! Our car had been undriveable for almost 6 months when these guys got it! They did a thorough and excellent job! The car runs better than before the original mishap!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Our son has not quit smiling, since getting his car back!

I am very impressed by this garage. My car (a 2004 Outback that had been abused by its last owner) had broken down and wouldn't start. They replaced all the things needed to get the car running again, but unfortunately there was deep engine issues that would required a rebuild (which is something I had expected). The entire time they worked on my car, they were friendly and honest. They talked to me about what the car needed overall, and what I could or couldn't wait to fix, based on my budget. I have never had such a pleasant experience with a mechanic. They had shaved off the price of the work where ever they could because the car would not be usable after all the work put in it. They even discussed what my options were for the car from this point forward and said I could leave the car in the lot for a little bit until it was convinient for me to get it out. I will go back to them for the rest of the time I live in this area, I couldn't recommend them more.

My first experience with FDG was in 2011. My vehicle died on I-94 and was literally loaded with everything from my apartment in boxes, as I was getting ready to move into my new house that day. Dan, from Flying Dog, drove to pick me up and helped me move all of my boxes into his car ... then drove me to a rental car agency as he arranged for a tow truck to get my vehicle. That's just one of the many examples of how their team has gone the extra mile for us, on top of doing high-quality work. If anything has ever gone wrong with one of their jobs, they've repaired it for me free of charge. I've referred several friends and co-workers to Flying Dog Garage, and will continue to leverage them as a trusted service for years to come. Thanks guys!

Brought volvo in for a lot of needed suspension work. Rides nicer now very happy with service/mechanic/warrantee. ....then got two new tires from flying dog....got some work done somewhere else recently but I will continue to use flying dog for some other major work.

My father bought a 1958 Mercedes 190sl in 1994. He rebuilt the engine and restored the rest. He was never able to find a mechanic that could make it run correctly... he was towed often. When I took over ownership in September of 2013 I had the same issues. I drove it 8 times and was towed to a garage three times. FlyingDog was recommended to me by a good friend. Their time, effort, and expertise has made my 190 a very happy auto. I've put over 2,000 miles on it this summer (I did have to be towed once, but that was simple wear and tear on the 20 year old distributor points - fixed and back on the road in just a few days). These guys not only know their stuff, they are dedicated to finding the best solution possible without breaking your wallet. You can tell that they love what they do. They are true professionals. I won't go anywhere else.

Greg, a master mechanic and the Flying Dog owner, and Dan, office manager and the master of ceremonies, are a pair of the nicest, smartest, most hardworking guys you'll ever meet. They can't help but do right by you and your car. They know more about your car than you ever will, but they'll never make you feel dumb about that simple fact, and you'll never doubt that you're getting the best automotive service in southwest Michigan. They take the painful sting out of the second-most difficult exchange of goods and services known to man or woman: auto repairs. (First-most difficult: haircut.) On top of it all, they're fun-loving. They're the Penn and Teller of auto repair (Greg is Teller), amusingly dispelling the illusion and trickery of what other shady mechanics do, or don't do. For the past three years, in addition to any repairs we've needed, we've also driven all the way from Bedford Township, 40 minutes one way, just to get our oil changed and visit with them. The better you get to know them, and the better they get to know your car, the more you come to realize you'll never again need, or want, another mechanic.

If I wanted to own a garage, this would be it. Greg and Dan know their stuff. When they don't, they look it up and tell you options. Greg and Dan are honest. I truly believe they would do nothing to my car they would not do on theirs. They are honest with their billing too.

I own an often crankt SAAB and Flying Dog ihas been a salvation to my SAAB psyche and wallet. Flying Dog offers service unlike any I have experienced at any shop-considerate, kind, helpful and with high integrirty. I believe they specialize in foriegn cars-if you own one it is well worth checking out
